Here are comments on various aspects of consulting and presentations by APAS and our associates:

“Clive Thomas’ legislative workshop was awesome. Dr. Thomas’ discussion of how to think and act politically was eye opening because it emphasized the importance of human interactions in an environment that changes rapidly and depends on mutual benefit and respect. I really liked his down to earth approach with many real-life examples and lots of practical advice. His discussion of a lobbying plan was very useful and provided an essential framework for being successful in interacting with the legislature. I learned so much about the legislative process, how to prepare for and interact with the legislature, and the sincere commitment of the legislators to the political process. Dr. Thomas’ workshop has made me a lot more confident and effective in interacting with Senators, Representatives, and their staff in Juneau. Plus, now I understand the budget process.”

“I found the workshop to be first-rate and extremely informative. As a former legislative aide, a political campaign worker, and now working for a interest group, it gave me a new and very practical perspective for dealing with state government.”

In 2011, Clive S. Thomas, our principal consultant, was given a legislative citation for his major contribution to the better understanding of Alaska politics and government. The citation reads in part: “Thomas is internationally-recognized as an expert on lobbying and interest groups, and was sought out by the Encyclopedia Britannica to write the entry on these topics. He has worked as a consultant both with foreign governments and local organizations, helping everyone learn how to better use their government.” To read the full citation, please click here (pdf, 2.32 mb).
